One of Peter Berg's fondest memories is playing the game Battleship as a kid with his dad, so it came as no surprise when the director decided to adapt it for the big screen. Battleship, starring Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch and singer Rihanna in her feature film debut, is an epic action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force.

Bonnie Laufer spoke with Peter via satellite from New York about directing this big budget epic, how Rihanna surprised him and why this movie means so much to him and his father.
