Beautifull movie. Rachel Weisz is always perfect, expressing her passion for lerning above all. Makes you want to read more about religion and rationality.

This is a marvelous movie of ideas. It does not overwhelm the viewer with great potfulls of cgi effects a la Alexander or Troy. Rachel Weisz is perfectly cast as the woman Hyapatia, whose passion only resides in her quest for learning. It is doubtful that she is even aware that there are actually two sexes.Or,the fact that there are- is personally irrelevent to her. The film offers a good picture of the tradional,age-long bloody clash between the irrationality of religion versus the reasoned approach of science in its never-ending quest to make sense of the universe. I can't praise this film enough.

Good script and cast keep this one afloat. Surprised it was released when it was, more of an Oscar contender than a Summer movie. Sets and costumes are excellent, as is Rachel Weisz... again. Excellent entertainment, albeit a little sad.

Entertaining and visually stunning tale of Roman proportions. Rachel Weisz continues to impress with each and every role. Sets, costumes, script and cast make this film highly entertaining and a potential Oscar contender. Well worth checking out.
