Wes Craven was a most erratic filmmaker. He made some genuine horror masterpieces, some okay films, some mediocre films, and some cinematic atrocities that rank among the worst ever. SHOCKER is one of his atrocities. A stupid, unscary and cynical attempt to create another cash-cow horror franchise. Apparently Craven didn't think much of the young audiences who went to see his films. This is patronizing garbage. This ending is funny, but I don't think it was supposed to be funny. At least it *shouldn't* be funny. One shouldn't go for silly laughs when you're trying to scare your audience. As bad as this is, Craven subsequently made films that are actually worse than this! Avoid this at all costs.
