It`s about performance. Whether on stage, or film. The idea of having a chinese actress in the lead wasn`t there to insult the Japanese person, but rather to pursude a character into living the part, through the actor. Obvious. I just stepped out from the movie, and thought every cast member to be sublime and wisely choosen for the roles. This film is a marvel!!!!

It started off all right, but then fell apart.

Awful story. Boring.

There are lots of really talented Japanese actresses out there, why didn`t they bother to look? Thankful at least that they cast Ken Watanabe.

It`s weird that they used Chinese actresses in all the lead roles. Chinese people and Japanese people aren`t the same, did they not know that?

I didn`t like the book, so I wasn`t surprised that I didn`t like the movie (was dragged to it).

SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!

It`s insulting to all Japanese that they would use chinese actresses for all lead roles in such a historical Japanese story. Even more ignorant that they didn`t even try to keep any of it realistic and truthful to history.
