In viewing a film, that generally will not hold an audience when in a foreign lauage, I look for the story, its soul and this film diffenietly has one. Amy Irving is very real as Mary Ann and so is Paulo, Antonio Fagundes, I enjoyed the screen-writers adaptation and the way Bruno Barreto pulls everything together as the movie draws to an end. I wish Amy Bruno consider doing another film based in Brazil. The music in this film was traffic. In fact I will buy the sound track I like so much. Keep acting Amy you do your craft justice and what I have seen I have really enjoyed

GREAT ROMANTIC MOVIE BEAUTIFUL PHOTOGRAPHY AND SCENERY ESPECIALLY THE BEGINNING. ACTORS EXCELLENT AND VERY LIKEABLE MIXTURE OF PORTUGESE AND ENGLISH DIALOG ADDED WORLDLY CHARACTER. EXCELLENT STORY DIRECTED TO CONVEY STYLE, HUMOR AND TENDERNESS. THE BOSSA NOVA MUSIC WAS BEAUTIFULLY WOVEN INTO THE STORY AHD SET THE MOOD WONDERFULLY IN EACH SCENE- THE CHARLES TRENET SONG ADDED A GREAT NOSTALGIC TOUCH. WORTH SEEING MANY TIMES OVER. I HAVE.
