TERI HATCHER
Date of Birth: December 8, 1964
Best known for her portrayal of Lois Lane on the long running television series, Lois & Clark, this luscious brunette was born and raised in the San Francisco area. With a natural love for dancing, Hatcher took up the art in her youth and continued into high school where she became the leader of the dance troupe, Featherettes.
Following high school, Hatcher studied acting at the American Conservatory Theatre while attending De Anza College in Cupertino, California for mathematics and engineering. In 1984 her dance experience paid off as she became a member of the Gold Rush—the professional cheerleading squad of the American football club's San Francisco 49ers.
While escorting a friend to Hollywood to provide support for her friend's audition for a part in The Love Boat series, Hatcher decided to have some fun and audition too. She ended up winning the role of Amy, Love Boat Mermaid. After achieving her first paid gig, she started to land roles on other series like MacGyver and Karen's Song.
Deciding to expand her resumé to include the big screen, Hatcher went on to some supporting roles in films such as Tango & Cash (1989) with Sylvester Stallone, Soap Dish (1991) with Whoopi Goldberg, and Straight Talk (1992) with Dolly Parton.
In 1993 she won her first starring role, in television's Lois & Clark opposite Dean Cain's Superman. The series lasted four years and earned three Emmy nominations. Hatcher even took the chance to write her first teleplay, the Lois & Clark episode entitled "It's A Small World After All."
Following her stint on Lois & Clark, Hatcher remained a force in Hollywood with high-profile roles in 2 Days In The Valley (1996) and the 007 extravaganza, Tomorrow Never Dies (1997). In the waning years of the 90s, Hatcher worked on a number of commercials and made her way onto the stage performing in a touring production of Cabaret playing Sally Bowles.
In 2004, she landed a role on the hit series Desperate Housewives, propelling her to even greater fame than she'd enjoyed with Lois & Clark, especially when she won a 2005 Golden Globe for her work on the show, as well as a Screen Actors Guild award. Most recently, she lent her voice to the animated film Planes (2013).
Hatcher has been married twice. First to her personal trainer Markus Leithold—a union that only lasted ten months in the late 80s—and then to actor Jon Tenney, with whom she had her first child, a daughter, in 1997. Besides acting, this self-proclaimed animal lover, who spends time with her family north of Los Angeles, enjoys the occasional round of golf.
