Dancer In The Dark
Selma (Björk) emigrates with her son to America from Europe in 1964. After arriving she works
night and day in a factory to save her son from a disease she suffers from which will
inevitably leave her blind. She needs enough money to provide him with an operation, but when
a desperate neighbor falsely accuses her of stealing his savings, her hope for the future
plummets. To escape from the harsh world and cheer her spirits, Selma goes to the movie
theatre to watch classic Hollywood musicals.
