SHANE HARPER
Date of Birth: February 14, 1993
Born in La Jolla, California, Shane Harper showed potential in many fields as a young boy. He began studying martial arts at just four years old, and he slowly started to show interest in the entertainment industry in the few years after that. At nine, he started dance (hip-hop, ballet and jazz) and acting lessons and showcased his talents at a local community theater, as well as in competitive dance. Around the same time, he developed an interest in music and starting singing and playing piano and guitar.
Shane made his professional transition into the entertainment industry at the age of 13, and he appeared as a principal dancer in several commercial hit films, including High School Musical 2 and Dance Revolution. He also snagged a leading dance role the Nickelodeon show Dance on Sunset. In 2010, Shane landed his first feature film roles: My Name is Khan and Flipped. Although the two roles were minor, they led the way to a recurring role on Disney Channel’s Good Luck Charlie, playing Spencer Walsh. One of Shane’s more recent acting gigs is the starring role in the hit film God’s Not Dead (2014), playing college kid Josh Wheaton.
Shane’s many talents have allowed him to develop more than just one career. Besides professional dancing and acting, Shane is a successful musician. He released his debut self-titled album in 2011 under A.M.I. Records. The same year, he opened for teen sensations Cody Simpson and Miranda Cosgrove on their tours. His music has found its way into his acting – he wrote a song called “Hold You Up” for the soundtrack of his film God’s Not Dead.
Shane comes from a conservative Christian family, and since 2011 he’s been in a relationship with his Good Luck Charlie co-star Bridgit Mendler.
