Not sure how these people have given it 5 stars? Movie was okay at best. Did they not watch the original? That was well done. This movie could have been done better with a better cast. Too bad John Carpenter didn't get the chance to make this movie!!!

If you enjoyed the tension & atmosphere of John Carpenter's 1982 version of The Thing, then your in for a surprise... this is no remake, it is a prequel to the cult classic. The C.G.I effects are a modest & accurate representation Rob Bottin's original monster design. the score, the sound effects & pace are spot on. I read plenty of bad reviews going in, I already was concerned with some idiot coming in & ruining something I love... so I asked for a ticket to the crappy version of The Thing, sat down & found myself biting my nails accompanied by nervous foot tapping... all those old feelings I felt watching the 1982 version where there! Dread, nervousness, stress, worry for 103 minutes!
