none of you guys have any idea what you are talking about. obviously NONE of you have seen the first Thing. This movie did a great job in making a prequel and anybody who thought it was gonna be like "Dream House" or "Paranormal Activity" is just naive. This is why you guys ARENT critics. THIS WAS A GREAT MOVIE.

I really liked this prequel. The acting was good and the special effects were amazing. I was glad that the studio did not use big named actors because it added to the realism of the movie. I am a big fan of John Carpenter's 1982's movie and felt this movie was a good lead into that movie. Hopefully it will become a trilogy?

While I appreciate the attention to detail remaking the set and overall look of the movie, the extensive CGI and over-the-top ending are a bit of a dishonour to the original. It's lost a lot of charm.

I should have listened to the negative reviews. This is a pretty crumby movie. 1 star.

Sigh.

No build-up, drama or suspense. Absolute waste of time, watch the original.

Garbage!!!! Very disappointed with this movie. I was expecting more and thought I would get it. Some scary parts but overall not impressed.

Was too hyped to see this 'prequel' and left the theatre not happy, but not disapointed. The story was ok, cgi was subpar at best. It was all going great until the 'anti' climax. I found throwing the little snipets while the credtis were rolling, crap. Trying to tie this movie to John Carpenters in the last two minutes didn't work for me. It was nice to see the director of this Thing pay homage to Ridley Scotts 'Alien' as well as Carperters version. I would see this movie again, but not as many countless times as i've seen the 1982 movie!
