The Hate U Give

In this trailer for The Hate U Give we see Starr Carter (Amandla Stenberg) describing the differences between her home and the predominately white high school she attends, located in the next township. We see Starr at a party on the weekend, meeting up with her friend Khalil (Algee Smith). He jokingly says he knows she is hanging around all the white kids. On their drive home, they are pulled over by the police and Khalil is shot and killed. Finally, her Uncle Carlos (Common) tells her that they "live in a complicated world," to which Starr replies, "it doesn't seem that complicated to me."
