REALLY ENJOYED. Well written. Good character development. Had a low key Midwestern feel (no super heroes). Full of life's humor and drama. Reminded me of 'Nebraska', 'The Straight Story' and 'Lars and the Real Girl'. It observed aging without poking fun. Saw it with my 80 year old dad. We laughed and cried together. The title sort of threw me. It's not really about farming other than the setting. It's mostly a story about 2 generations in transition (granddaughter and grandfather) and how their dilemmas are really similar (no partner, what next?...). The way their relationship grows is sincere...not forced. Feels authentic. Thought provoking...I thought about it for a long time afterwards. Hope it's available for streaming someday so I can see it again. If you like a good story, you will love 'Farmer of the Year'.
