go for the effects, go because of the 3 main adult characters (ford, kingsley and davis). read the book, and I hope there is no sequal... fyi I love Cards writtings.

Not nearly as good as the book, though the performaces, by Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield and Hailee Steinfeld and the visuals almost compensate for its lack of anything more than a cursory examination of the novel's themes. Spectacular on IMAX, but still only a partially successful adaptation.
