Bowling

Catherine, Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Health, is sent to Carhaix, a small town in central Brittany. Her mission: to reorganize the operation of the local hospital and most importantly, close the maternity ward, which is losing money due to the low birth rate. Initially unaware of Catherine’s exact purpose in Carhaix, midwife Mathilde, her colleague Firmine and their friend Louise ask Catherine to join their bowling team. As it turns out, Catherine, despite being somewhat stuck up, is a good bowler and her contribution helps them qualify for the finals in Britain. But her relationship with her teammates festers when the director of the hospital announces the closure of the maternity ward. Spurred on by the fiery Mathilde, the population of Carhaix mobilizes against this fateful decision.
