In the first trailer for Pet Sematary, Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke) and his family arrive at their new home in rural Maine, which has a vast forest behind the house. In a voice-over, their new neighbor Jud Crandall (John Lithgow) explains a myth that says children used to come to the woods and that something bad lives there: “something that brings things back.” We see a number of disturbing images, including a funeral parade of children wearing creepy masks to bury a dead dog, as Crandall states, “Sometimes dead is better.”
