Con artist Stanton Carlisle (Bradley Cooper) has a talent for manipulating people and when he meets psychiatrist Lilith Ritter (Cate Blanchett), he teams up with her. Stanton sees a way for the two of them to con a dangerous tycoon, only to realize that Lilith is more manipulative and dangerous than he anticipated.
