A newly married teacher prepares for life as a mother when she becomes pregnant. As a first time mother, she feels vulnerable and uncertain about where her life is headed. She needs support and receives some from an unlikely source. A student of hers is also having a child. The two form a bond and help each other through the most important time in both their lives.
