Tiresia

In Greek mythology, Tiresia is both woman and man. In this movie, Tiresia is a Brazilian transexual living with "her" brother on the outskirts of Paris where she prostitutes herself. Terranova, a man obsessed by Tiresia's beauty, kidnapps her. However, without her regular dose of hormones, Tiresia gradually starts to change back to a man. Unable to accept that, Terranova beats Tiresia, puts her eyes out then abandons her in the countryside. A mute woman, Anna takes in Tiresia, helping her recover. Without eyesight, Tiresia develops a talent to read fortunes, something greatly troubling to the local priest.
