Jalouse

Everyone in Nathalie Pêcheux’s circle of family and friends seems to be doing fine. Her daughter Mathilde, 18, is about to audition for the Paris Opera Ballet company. Her best friend has a happy married life with her husband and their daughter, who’s the same age as Mathilde. Nathalie’s ex-husband and his young girlfriend are planning a romantic trip to the Maldives. Her new colleague, in high school where Nathalie teaches French, seems to be very acclimatized. Too much. Nathalie is jealous of her, of Mathilde, of her best friend, everyone. She begins to sabotage the happiness of those around her. She ruin’s her ex-husband’s Club Med trip, tries to break up her best friend’s marriage, subverts her teaching rival’s new agenda and inadvertently poisons Mathilde right before her big audition. Even when she finds a possible new suitor, she manages to alienate him on the first night. Unable to analyze the evil that gnaws at her, Nathalie envies everyone, sowing doubt and sadness with her petty words. Without doing it on purpose, she will go too far.
