The Virgin, the Copts and Me

Filmmaker Namir Abdel Messeeh, born in Paris to a family of Egyptian immigrants, is skeptical when presented with a video purporting to show Virgin Mary in Cairo. Namir sets off on a trip to Egypt to make a film about the truth behind this alleged appearance. With the endorsement of his producer, he flies to Cairo with a small crew to travel to places where the Virgin has appeared over the decades, and gather the testimonies of those present at these strange events. Along the way, Namir meets relatives he hasn’t seen in many years, reviving some family wounds. When, due to circumstances beyond his control, shooting runs over budget and the producer refuses to providing any additional funding, his mother steps in and saves the day.
