The Spirit of Places

Thirty-five years after Hungarian photographer Gabor Szilasi documented the decline of rural, homegrown culture in Quebec’s Charlevoix region, Catherine Martin retraces his journey. From Saint-Urbain to l'île aux Coudres, passing Baie-Saint-Paul and Les Éboulements, the filmmaker meets and discusses the traditions and rituals of the time with Szilasi’s subjects and their descendants.
