Le Nord au coeur

In August 2009, linguist and geographer Louis-Edmond Hamelin goes to Mushuau-Nipi, in northern Quebec, to attend a seminar on indigenous land protection. Filmmaker Serge Giguère tells the career of this remarkable man, born in 1923 in St-Didace, who has dedicated his life to indigenous rights.

The author of the concepts of "nordicity" and "glaciel" and a critic of the Plan Nord proposed by Jean Charest’s Liberal government, has served the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories in Yellowknife since 1971. He also established the Centre d'Études Nordiques in 1961 and created the Convention Committee of northern Quebec.
