Film Portrait

In this autobiographical documentary, Jerome Hill discusses his life, family, and filmmaking efforts. Hill was the scion of an important U.S. railroad tycoon. With a love for photography, Hill began making films for his own and his family's amusement at an early age. In this way, he chronicled his family in the years between 1905 and 1930. Major photographers of the era also made portraits of his family. This film, narrated in French by Jerome Hill, uses still photography, animation, and moving pictures to tell his story. The film includes clips from his many amateur efforts.
