Beautiful Losers

The most memorable cultural movements in history have always developed organically. In the early 1990's, a loose-knit group of American artists, many just out of their teens, unwittingly started just such a movement. Rooted in the popular underground youth subcultures of the day, such as skateboarding, surf, graffiti, punk and hip-hop, they created art that reflected the alternative DIY lifestyles they led. This documentary tells the story of how a group of outsiders - including Shepard Fairey, Harmony Korine, Barry McGee, Ed Templeton and more -- with little or no formal training and almost no conception or interest of the inner workings of the art world ended up having an incredible impact on the worlds of art, fashion, music, film and pop culture.
