Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve talks about trying to make a new story in the Blade Runner narrative while still relating to the previous film. He then discusses the challenge and responsibility of bringing back a seminal character like Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford). Denis goes into the plot of Blade Runner 2049 and how the main themes of the first film carry through to this film. He finally discusses how this movie is one that can stand alone, but advises that fans do see the first one as it is a great film and will help familiarize fans with the Blade Runner world.
