Mei Ling Lee (Rosalie Chiang) is a typical middle schooler whose ancestors had a mystical connection with red pandas. At the age of 13, she wakes up one morning to discover that she's suddenly turned into a giant red panda. Her mother, Ming (Sandra Oh), tells Mei about the "quirk" that runs in their family and explains that whenever Mei feels a strong emotion, it will unleash the red panda.
