The Emoji Movie

The hilarious teaser trailer for The Emoji Movie begins on a high note as the Sony Pictures Animation logo triumphantly appears alongside a blaring orchestral introduction. However, the music is quickly silenced as a little yellow man standing all by his lonesome pops on screen. "Hello," he says glumly, with a tepid wave. "As you can see, I am an emoji," he continues unenthusiastically. To be exact, he is the oft-used "Meh" emoji. (You know, the one with the downturned lip and disinterested eyes shifted slightly to the right?)

Following another uncomfortably long pause, this excitable emoji, better known as Mel Meh (Steven Wright), declares his pleasure at introducing the emojis' first movie, delivering a "yay" and a fist pump of passionless proportions. "It's almost too thrilling for words," he proclaims with well-hidden glee, "So bring the family. It doesn't have to be your family." Set in the city of Textopolis, The Emoji Movie centers around all our favorite emojis — like the Ice Cream Cone emoji, the Cookie emoji, and the chart-topping Poop emoji.
