In this trailer for Broken Star we see troubled actress Markey Marlowe (Analeigh Tipton) climbing the steps to her home with an ankle monitor attached. Her landlord Daryl (Tyler Labine) photographs her and tells her how beautiful she is. A fan of Marilyn Monroe, she says she wants to "go out big, like Marilyn." Daryl vows to help Markey. She asks him to go out and "film something" for her. Finally, we see Daryl with his hands around Markey's neck. She is wearing a blonde wig, very similar to that of the real Marilyn Monroe.
