On an August day in 1969, Vikar (James Franco) travels to Los Angeles to experience the movies. Once there, he encounters a myriad of interesting characters, including the Viking Man (Seth Rogen) and the captivating but struggling actress Soledad (Megan Fox). Vikar and Soledad develop a relationship before Vikar discovers that a secret movie exists within all movies ever made. While searching for answers, Vikar enlists the help of friends and foes he meets on the way.
