During WWII, when Alice (Gemma Arterton) opens her door to discover she has to give a home to a young evacuee from London named Frank (Toby Osmond), she's resistant. At first distant with the boy, she gradually warms to him and discovers they have much in common. When bad news arrives for Frank, she realizes she has to act fast to help him through it.
