Music is all Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx) thinks about, from the time he wakes up in the morning to the moment he falls asleep at night. When he accidentally falls into a manhole, he finds himself in the Great Before, where souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they're born. However, all he wants to do is get back to Earth, because life is full of possibilities.
