In the trailer for I Can Only Imagine, when Bart Millard (J. Michael Finley) admits during an interview that he wrote his latest song in only 10 minutes, he also tells her his story, starting from the time he was 11 years old. That's when his mother left, and his gruff father (Dennis Quaid) told him his mother didn't want him. When Bart decides to become a singer, his father tells him it's a stupid dream. Realizing he can't stay in such a negative environment, Bart leaves to pursue his dream.
