The plot and Paul Newman an excellent movie!

Colossally overrated film is simultaneously shallow and over-complicated. Very slow and sluggish. Illogical. Some scenes demonstrate a woeful ignorance of gambling, confidence trickery, etc. I imagine that real-life grifters found this film to be unintentionally funny. Actual laughs for the regular audience never materialize. Redford is miscast badly. Worst of all, this is a really SMUG film. Avoid this.

Its a very good film and good comedy. I can't stop laughing. The best con movie of all time.

Awesome. This is one of my all time favorite movies. Paul Newman and Robert Redford, the best partners since Butch and Sundance. Look the supporting cast for familer movie and tv actors of the past 43 years. Wow 43 years a go. I remember seeing it at the Odeon Theatre as a kid.

the best con movie of all time, and arguably one of the best flicks to ever grace the silver screen. action, comedy, wit and an amazing ending. if you haven`t seen this (or heard of it), go out and rent it RIGHT AWAY. Also, please don`t confuse it with its horribly, awfully inferior sequel, produced in the 80s with a few different actors in key roles.
