It’s all there: privileged excess, religious tension, family obligations and young people grappling with their place in the world. Mesmerizing adaptation, perfect casting and lush cinematopgraphy. This film version of the Waugh novel held me spellbound with its story of love, loss, and the power the Catholic Church. Ben Wishaw as Sebastion dominates, yet all the other actors are superb in their portrayals.
