SEAN HAYES
Date of Birth: June 26, 1970
When Sean Hayes was a kid growing up in the Chicago suburb of Glen Ellyn, Illinois with his four siblings, his father walked out, leaving his wife to support their children alone. The desertion devastated Sean and his siblings. He hasn't had much contact with his father since then.
Sean's first movie experience was when the feature film Lucas (1985), starring Winona Ryder, shot scenes at his high school and Sean signed up to appear as an extra. At a young age, Sean showed musical talent and played piano, later supporting himself by playing during voice lessons and in a pop band called Sounds from the Stairs while enrolled at Illinois State University where he studied music and theater. After graduation, he joined the Second City comedy troupe for a while and spent some time as the musical director of a local theater.
In 1995 he left for Los Angeles and performed in a national tour of a Christmas show starring Kenny Rogers, as well as doing stand up comedy at L.A.'s Comedy Club. His first acting role was a guest appearance on the crime drama series Silk Stalkings. In 1997 he played a gay photographer in the independent film Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss (1998), which led to starring in the sitcom Will & Grace. For his portrayal as Jack, Will's flamboyant gay friend, Sean has won an Emmy and received four Golden Globe nominations.
In 2002, Sean traveled to Toronto during a break from Will & Grace to film the role of Jerry Lewis in the CBS TV movie Martin and Lewis. Sean has also branched out into voice over work, including the video Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins (2000) and the feature film Cats & Dogs (2001). In the hit comedy Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat (2003) he not only voices a fish, but plays the role of Joan's germ-obsessed boss, Mr. Humberfloob. Another one of his notable roles is playing Larry in the feature film The Three Stooges (2012). His most recent film is The Emoji Movie (2017), in which he voices the character of "Devil" Steven.
Sean is married to music producer Scott Icenogle and makes his home in Los Angeles.
