SARAH BOLGER
Date of Birth: February 28, 1991
Sarah Lee Bolger was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, along with her younger sister, actress Emma Bolger. From a very young age, Sarah knew she wanted to act. She attended The Young People's Theatre School in Dublin and at seven, she received her first acting job in the 1999 TV movie A Love Divided, starring Liam Cunningham.
In 2002, Bolger and Emma played onscreen sisters in the film In America. Emma first auditioned and was cast in the movie, then asked director Jim Sheridan to let Sarah try out. The director was skeptical because they were originally looking for a 14-year-old and Bolger was only 10. He let her audition and she was indeed cast in the movie, which allowed her to receive six nominations for various film festival awards.
In 2006, she starred with Alex Pettyfer in Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker, then in 2008 starred in the adaptation of the children's novel The Spiderwick Chronicles with Freddie Highmore. However, she is best known for her role as Princess/Lady Mary Tudor alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the TV series The Tudors. For her work on the show, she won the Irish Film & Television Award in 2010 for Actress in a Supporting Role - Television.
The Irish actress will also play Violet in an ABC series called Gilded Lillys, an American period drama. In 2012, she played Rebecca in The Moth Diaries and in As Cool as I Am, was the daughter of characters played by James Marsden and Claire Danes.
In a 2011 interview with Tribute's Bonnie Laufer at the Toronto International Film Festival, Bolger talked about her success and staying poised, explaining, "Living in Dublin with my mum and dad and my sister and my new little puppy, keeps me very, very grounded."
