Ryan Guzman was born in San Francisco, California. He started out as a model with Look Model Agency and has modeled for Calvin Klein.

Ryan stepped out of his comfort zone when he made his acting debut in the dance movie Step Up Revolution (2012) alongside fellow newcomer Kathryn McCormick. He returned to the popular franchise in Step Up All In (2014). More recently, he starred in The Boy Next Door (2015).
