RAY STEVENSON
Date of Birth: May 24, 1964
Ray Stevenson's interest in acting was sparked at an early age. Born in North Ireland, but raised in North-East England, Stevenson commonly attended Saturday matinees at the Newcastle Odeon. Stevenson's ambition to become an actor was put on hold as he attended art school to pursue a career in interior design. After seeing John Malkovich in Burn This, Stevenson's acting ambitions reignited and he enrolled in the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
After several secondary roles in Some Kind of Life (1995), The Theory of Flight (1998), G:MT Greenwich Mean Time (1999) and King Arthur (2004), Stevenson landed his first major role in Outpost (2007) where he played an ex-marine that tries to survive a dangerous voyage into unmarked territory. Following this, Stevenson took on the role as the Punisher in Punisher: War Zone (2008).
While filming these big screen movies, Stevenson continued his role as a Titus Pullo, a Roman soldier, on the acclaimed HBO television series Rome (2005 to 2007). Recently, he starred in Divergent (2014) alongside Shailene Woodley and Theo James.
In 1997 Stevenson married actress Ruth Gemmell after they met on the set of the TV drama Band of Gold (1995), and they went on to play husband and wife on the series Peak Practice (1997). Stevenson and Gemmell divorced eight years later. Stevenson has a son Sebastiano Derek Stevenson, born December 24, 2007, with anthropologist Elisabetta Caraccia.
