MELISSA JOAN HART

Date of Birth: April 18, 1976

Growing up in Sayville, New York, Melissa Joan Hart's acting career began at the age of four when she did a commercial for a bathtub toy called Splashy. As the youngest member of New York's Circle Repertory Lab Company, Hart performed in two plays: Beside Herself in 1989 (starring Lois Smith and William Hurt) and Imagining Brad in 1990.

She was also in the National Actors Theatre production of The Crucible on Broadway with Martin Sheen (as understudy to three of the children in the play). Melissa cites Shirley Temple and Audrey Hepburn as early acting inspirations. During her late teen years, she juggled acting with attending New York University.

Melissa, who lives in the Los Angeles area, became famous for her starring roles in the television series Clarissa Explains It All (1991 to 1994) and the ABC TV series Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (1996 to 2003). More recently, she starred alongside fellow former child star Joey Lawrence in the ABC Spark series Melissa & Joey (2010 to 2015).

She has also appeared on the big screen, including the religious-themed sequel God's Not Dead 2 (2016).
