KRISTEN STEWART

Date of Birth: April 9, 1990

Born in Colorado but raised in Los Angeles, Kristen Stewart, whose father is TV producer John Stewart, played her first role as Patricia Clarkson's tomboy daughter in the indie film The Safety of Objects (2001). Her next role was a co-starring one as Jodie Foster's diabetic daughter (also a tomboy) in Panic Room (2002). Originally, another young actress had been cast when Nicole Kidman was scheduled to play the lead. But when Kidman was injured and had to drop out, Foster took over the part and Stewart (because of her resemblance to Foster) was hired to replace the original young actress. Stewart was nominated for a Young Artist award as Leading Young Actress for her performance in the film.

Panic Room was a box office success, and Stewart was quickly hired to play Angel, the daughter of Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone in Cold Creek Manor (2003), followed by the starring role as a girl who turns to crime to help her father in Catch that Kid (2004). After that, she played Lila in Undertow (2004) opposite Dermot Mulroney and Josh Lucas, for which she received another Young Artist award nomination.

It was when she landed the role of Bella Swan, a girl who falls in love with a vampire in Twilight that she achieved worldwide fame. Based on the Twilight series of books, the movie was an instant success and spawned four sequels—The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011) and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2012). While it would have been easy for Stewart to be pigeon-holed as an actress thanks to her stint as Bella Swan, she managed to land other roles that allowed her to show her varied talents — like a teenage rocker in the 70s in The Runaways (2010) and an updated, butt-kicking version of the Disney princess in Snow White & the Huntsman (2012).

Fans were thrilled when it was revealed that Kristen was dating her Twilight co-star, Robert Pattinson. The pair dated for four years until Kristen admitted to cheating on Robert with her married Snow White & the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. They broke up, but had already completed work on the final chapter of the Twilight series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (2012).

She followed the Twilight series up with roles in Camp X-Ray (2014), Still Alice (2015), Clouds of Sils Maria (2015) and American Ultra (2015).

Kristen works nonstop, as evidenced by her credits, which include the role of Beth in the drama Certain Women (2016), Vonnie in the Woody Allen comedy Café Society (2016), Nia in the dystopian drama Equals (2016), Kathryn in the biopic Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk (2016), and Maureen in the paranormal thriller Personal Shopper (2017).

After playing the starring role of Sabina in Charlie's Angels (2019), a reboot of the 1970s TV series, in 2020, she was seen in two thrillers, Seberg and Underwater.

She was also set to star in the theatrical film Happiest Season (2020), which moved to a Hulu release in November 2020 after the pandemic hit.

Most recently, Kristen received rave reviews for her work in the movie Spencer (2021), in which she portrays Princess Diana as she goes through a difficult time in her life. For her work in the movie, she received her first Academy Award nomination.

In January 2012, Kristen was named the face of Balenciaga Fragrance's new perfume. In 2013, Kristen came out as a lesbian and began dating visual effects producer Alicia Cargile. By November 2021, she revealed that she was engaged to her girlfriend of two years, screenwriter Dylan Meyer.
