A native of Maryland and a leap year child, Jessie T. Usher began acting at a young age. When his older sister Jesstia book her first TV commercial, Jessie also wanted to get involved. His first job was in an Oscar Meyer commercial at the age of five. With both children showing signs of success, the family relocated to Los Angeles when Jessie was in his teens. He would excel academically, becoming a top honor student. He graduated high school at the age of 15.

Following high school, he carried his academic success on to college where he made the Dean's List as a student in the Art of Culinary program. While at college, he was also a member of Alpha Gamma Honor Society.

When Jessie's family moved to Los Angeles in 2003, he discovered a passion for acting that he was able to explore in 2005 when he won a guest-starring role on the TV series Without A Trace.

In 2007 he made his Disney channel debut with a guest appearance on Hannah Montana, alongside Miley Cyrus. Other guest roles followed, on shows such as Lincoln Heights (2008), Numb3rs (2008), The Mentalist (2009), and Criminal Minds (2009).

Jessie made his feature film debut in 2011 with the drama Beautiful Boy, about a married couple grappling with news that their son committed a mass shooting at his school before taking his own life. Michael Sheen and Maria Bello starred in the movie.

Although Beautiful Boy was his first movie, Jessie's first big break came with the 2011 Cartoon Network TV movie Level Up, playing Lyle Hugginson. He reprised the role for two seasons when the movie was developed into a series that aired from 2012 to 2013.

In 2013, Jessie returned to film with InAPPropriate Comedy, which starred Lindsay Lohan, Adrien Brody, Michelle Rodriguez and Rob Schneider.

He lent his talents to the documentary Teenage in 2013 and acted in the 2014 football film When the Game Stands Tall with Jim Caviezel, Alexander Ludwig and Michael Chiklis.

From 2014 to 2015, Jessie starred in the Lebron James-produced Starz TV series Survivor's Remorse, portraying Cam Calloway, a basketball player who turns pro and moves with his family to Atlanta.

In 2016 he landed the coveted role of Dylan Hiller, the stepson of Will Smith’s Captain Steven Hiller, as part of the ensemble cast for Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day: Resurgence.

His next film role was in the action thriller Ride (2018) starring alongside Bella Thorne. His biggest role to date has been in the sequel film Shaft (2019) in which he plays John Shaft Jr., the son of Samuel L. Jackson’s John Shaft II. Most recently, he starred opposite Camila Mendes in the Netflix thriller Dangerous Lies (2020).

Outside of acting Jessie T. Usher is fond of cooking, gaming, jewelry and rap music, is active on social media and actively plays basketball and frequents the gym.
