ERIC MCCORMACK

Date of Birth: April 18, 1963

Best known for his role as Will Truman on the popular long running sitcom Will & Grace, Eric McCormack continues to impress audiences and critics alike through his various comedic and dramatic roles.

Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Eric McCormack admits he was a bit of an outsider growing up. He was shy and always opted out of playing sports. It wasn’t until he reached high school and participated in their theatrical productions of Pippin and Godspell, that he truly found his calling.

Before landing his breakout role as Will, Eric debuted on Canadian television with roles in shows such as Hangin' In, Katts and Dog, Street Legal and Neon Rider. He also was cast in recurring roles in the Canadian-filmed series The Commish and Lonesome Dove.

When he was chosen for a starring role in the American TV series Townies opposite Molly Ringwald, Eric moved to the States. At one point, he was in the running to play Ross Gellar on the TV hit Friends, but after several callbacks lost to David Schwimmer.

Broadway has been a significant influence in Eric’s career and he often returns to his theater roots. Along with his 2001 Broadway debut in the The Music Man, Eric returned to Broadway in 2006 after Will & Grace wrapped, starring in Neil LaBute’s Off Broadway play Some Girls.

Over the years, Eric has continued to work steadily, both in motion pictures and on television in shows such as Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, The New Adventures of Old Christine and Monk.

Eric has also founded his own production company, Big Cattle Productions, which is dedicated to developing new television shows.

Married to Janet Leigh Holden since 1997, the couple has a little boy named Finnigan, which Eric named after the puppet from the legendary Canadian family television series Mr. Dressup.

In 2012, Eric landed a starring role in TNT's drama series Perception, playing a crime-solving neuroscientist. On the big screen, he was recently seen in Bill Guttentag’s drama Knife Fight, alongside Rob Lowe.
