When Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) tries to buy the rights to her novel, "Mary Poppins," author P.L. Travers (Emma Thompson) is reluctant at first, because Disney is known for animated films and she doesn't want her beloved character Mary Poppins to become a cartoon.
However, she finally gives in to Mr. Disney's charms and travels from London to Hollywood to discuss the possibility.
