Daniel Maslany, best known as Detective Watts on the popular series Murdoch Mysteries, stars in a new short film, The Mohel. He talks to Alexandra Heilbron about whether he’s closer in real life to Watts or James, the character he plays in The Mohel and discusses what he had to learn for the film, including some lines in a foreign language. He also discusses Watts’ popularity amongst fans of Murdoch Mysteries, how he would feel about doing a limited Detective Watts spin-off on CBC Gem and whether Watts’ endearing quirks were originated by him or the writers. Finally, he says that The Mohel is currently available online through the SXSW Film Festival.
