The official trailer for Viral begins with an ominous black screen informing us that the Disease Control Centre has confirmed a worm flu that has spread throughout America, and warns that you should avoid the infected at all costs. The screen then cuts out and starts flashing quick clips of worms, human blood cells, and people sick in hospitals. At a high school, a student starts vomiting and convulsing outside. Two teens, Emma (Sofia Black-D'Elia) and an unnamed male, attempt to save her.

When Emma leaves to get help, the girl on the ground opens her eyes. "You're okay?" the guy asks. Oh, she's okay all right, and feeling well enough to suddenly jump out at the guy as if to attack him. The whole town is shown to be quarantined, with Emma and her mother ordered to lock all of their doors and windows. But that doesn't stop Stacey (Analeigh Tipton) from convincing Emma to go to a party with her.

As a warning repeats itself to "avoid the infected at all costs," there are shots of soldiers shooting and of teens jumping from a burning building. At the end of the clip we are left in suspense, when an infected man jumps through a window and ominously approaches Emma with worms coming out of him.
