The trailer for The Rider opens up on the silhouette of a young man named Brady, walking towards a horse and warmly greeting him. The horse is obviously fond of him, too. Later, Brady watches a video of a bronc bucking him off at a rodeo. A voiceover says, "No more riding, no more rodeos. If you don't stop, your seizures are going to get worse." Brady finds out the horse — Gus — is going to be sold because he can no longer ride him. Later, he goes to visit his friend, Lane, who also had an accident but with a much worse outcome. Brady decides he can no longer stay away from horses.
