In this black-and-white trailer for the movie The Party, Janet (Kristin Scott Thomas) opens the door and welcomes her guests. Her friend April (Patricia Clarkson) hugs her and says, "Congratulations." Later, April opens the door to a male guest, Tom (Cillian Murphy). Another woman tells Janet her appointment is a triumph for womankind, while Tom says he's not a bit surprised at Janet's success. April makes a toast to Janet, telling her that although she doesn't believe in politics, she believes in Janet. Things take a turn when Janet's husband, Bill (Timothy Spall), announces he's leaving Janet for another woman — Tom's wife. From the snippets we're shown, the dinner party obviously goes downhill from there.
