Recently widowed, Annie struggles to support herself and her three sons in the small town of Brixton, Georgia by giving psychic readings to a few of the locals; like advising Valerie (Hilary Swank) to leave her her abusive husband (Keanu Reeves).

When the drowned body of a missing woman (Katie Holmes) is found, she uses her powers to help the police figure out who may have been the killer.
