A 16-year-old boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee) undertakes a journey across 19th century frontier America in search of the woman he loves. Along the way, he is joined by a mysterious traveler named Silas (Michael Fassbender), and is hotly pursued by an outlaw (Ben Mendelsohn).
