In the trailer for Sir, a widow named Ratna (Tillotama Shome) works as a maid in Mumbai for Ashwin (Vivek Gomber), a wealthy young man whom she refers to as "Sir." She wants to become a tailor, but has to ask "Sir" for permission to leave his home each day to take her courses. He grants her permission, but soon it becomes clear that he has feelings for her.
